AUSTRALIAN COCKROACH SPECIES
COCKROACH TREATMENT
No need to leave the property as we use a low mammalian toxicity insecticide, with no internal odour. No need to empty cupboards or wash anything after the treatment has been done. Safe to be used around kids and pets.
Our Part: Internal spray to skirting boards. External spray to garage, sheds, fence lines, pathways, windows, gutters, fascias. Dusting to roof void (accessed from the inside of the house), sub floor, Telstra pits, cracks, crevices and weep holes. Gel affected areas for German cockroaches
Your Part: Don’t put the washing out, clean up before treatment, mow the lawns, limit your garbage outside and clean up internally. The more things away from the wall inside the better the barrier. Keep windows and doors closed until the spray dries. Clean behind the fridge and under the microwave.
COCKROACH CONTROL
The treatment for German cockroaches is different than the larger cockroaches. Sydney’s Best Pest Control use gel to eradicate German cockroaches – using powder, gas, and conventional sprays will only temporarily stop them.
Large cockroaches are treated using a general spray which includes treatment of roof voids, internal skirting boards and external areas.
Large Cockroaches:
Roof: Dust/powder is sprayed into the roof cavity by the means of a dust gun. The technician will use a ladder to access the roof cavity through the manhole and the dust will be spread throughout this area.
Internal: An internal barrier spray will be applied to the skirting boards throughout the house. All rooms will be treated with the skirting board spray. Dust may also be applied to any cracks & crevices within the house
Sub Floor: Dust/powder will be sprayed into the area under the house.
External: Spray will be applied to the following areas: around windows, gutters, fascias etc. Garages, sheds, pathways, fence lines, laundry, weep holes, cracks and crevices and Telstra pits
Protecting Your Home
- Seal cracks, crevices or gaps in sliding doors, window screens and around pipes where cockroaches may enter
- Repair any leaking taps as cockroaches need water to survive
- Wash your dishes and pack food away after meals.
- Clean up crumbs and spills immediately
- Keep food containers sealed and don’t leave dirty dishes out overnight.
- Don’t leave fruit on the counter top.
- Empty garbage bins and vacuum and mop frequently
- Keep the house clean!
How Does the Spray Work?
The spray that is used for large cockroaches also covers you for other pests such as webbing spiders, red back spiders, carpet beetles, silverfish, creamy coloured crickets and any existing wasp nests.
The spray and dust method used for large cockroach control not only eradicates the current population but will also provide long-term protection as a residual protection is formed.
A cockroach will walk over this barrier and meet this barrier, and as cockroaches tend to lick themselves clean they end up digesting the poison.
TREATMENT PREPARATION
Internally:
Don’t hang the washing out, clean up internally. The more things away from the wall inside the better the barrier. Keep windows and doors closed until the spray dries. Clean behind the fridge if accessible and under the microwave. Limit the clutter within the house as having a cluttered house can introduce pests to your home and become a harbourage area for pests. Limit paper goods and throw out cardboard boxes.
Externally:
Mow the lawns, limit your garbage outside, clean up the backyard area and pack away kids or pet toys.

GERMAN COCKROACHES
Severity Levels
When you contact Sydney’s Best Pest Control and inform them you have an issue with the small (German) cockroaches your consultant will ask you what rooms you are seeing them in. This is because severity is based on the rooms you are seeing them in and how far away from the wet rooms they have travelled.
The further the cockroaches move away from water the larger their populations. Once their nests become over crowded they are forced to go into rooms where there is no easy water supply.
Mild: Kitchen, bathroom and laundry
Moderate: Kitchen, bathroom, laundry, lounge room and hallway
Severe: Throughout the entire premises including the bedrooms.
Internal: We use a gel/paste that is placed inside the hinges of the cupboards, around the affected rooms in specific areas and behind your appliances. A non-repellent spray will also be applied to the skirting boards of the affected rooms which acts as a barrier for any wandering German cockroaches which would prevent them from spreading into unaffected rooms.
How Does the Gel Work?
The gel is placed in the hinges of the cupboards and behind your appliances using a syringe and then hardens. The German cockroaches see this gel as a food source and will feed on it.
As cockroaches lick themselves clean, when they go back to the nest and other cockroaches start the cleaning process the chemical is passed amongst each other inside the nest.
Preparing for The German Cockroach Treatment
Internally: Clean up internally, clean behind the fridge if accessible and under the microwave. Limit the clutter within the house as having a cluttered house can introduce pests to your home and become a harbourage area for pests. Limit paper goods and throw out cardboard boxes and plastic bags
What to Expect After a German Cockroach Treatment
German cockroaches will be flushed out and will continue for up to 6 weeks, which is what you want. You do not want the German cockroaches to continue to hide.
It is common to see baby German cockroaches coming out at the 4-week mark which is entirely normal and not a cause for alarm or that the treatment is not working.
You should notice a 70-80% reduction in the first week and over the next 6 weeks, this will continue to decrease.
If your premise has a severe case of German cockroaches, i.e. they have spread to the bedrooms the follow-up treatment should be conducted 6 weeks after the initial treatment.
Do not be alarmed if you do not see any dead cockroaches – as it is possible that they will die within their nests.
